Civil Engineering Design Proposal for 345 kV New Songdo Substation
The project site is located in District 11 of Songdo International City, the first entrance and the final development zone of the city. As the gateway to a cutting-edge industrial cluster, the design aims to move away from the typical imposing appearance of substations by introducing human-scale segmentations and emphasizing symbolic landscapes with a focus on the sea and green areas as a local landmark. An eco-friendly landscape, including an urban ecological park featuring an alternative habitat for birds, will be designed in harmony with the geographical features of the area, surrounded by the sea, and aligned with the local urban landscape plan that designated the area as a waterfront urban district. This proposal seeks to establish a safe and aesthetically pleasing substation that blends seamlessly into the natural environment, transforming it into an integral object of beauty while overcoming the traditional negative perceptions associated with such facilities
